One of the greatest things about being a resident of Ontario is OHIP/Health Card membership, which permits us a full comprehensive eye exam every year plus any minor follow-ups required until the age of 19 for free.
Infants and toddlers should have their first eye examination between the ages of 6 to 9 months.
-Your child should have at least one eye examination between the ages of 2 to 5 years.
Your child should be having annual eye examinations from ages 6 and up.
Children should visit the optometrist at least once per year. However, if you notice any of the following behaviors or issues in your child, you should schedule their next eye exam as soon as possible since these behaviors may indicate your child is experiencing vision problems.
Unusual eye appearance (haziness, eyeball turned in or out)
Learning difficulties (poor handwriting, difficulty reading)

Behavioral irregularities (no eye contact, head tilts)
